Skills used and developed now
So far the skills I have used are my people skill, my organisation skills and my research skills. I have used my people skills to engage in a conversation with a short story author. I have asked him questions about short story writing. I have used my organisation skills to manage my time well and keep to personal deadlines. Finally I have used my research skills, so far I have researched different short story writers in the UK and their various different pieces of work. Also I have looked at many short story books. I have used my technical skills to create a gantt chart. This will help me plan out my tasks and organise my time. A new skill that I have learnt is how to write a questionnaire I have previously never done this, so I wrote a draft one then changed it to make it more specific to the author.

Rationale
I will creating a collection of short stories with a genre of graphic teen novels and horror. I will be researching authors of short stories, graphic teen novels and horror stories. I will help me with making my short stories because I will find out what plot lines are more popular and how to keep the audiences attention whilst still building up tension in the story.
The sources I will use books under the thriller and horror genre. Also I will use books that contain a selection of short stores. To see how they are structured. I will also probably use the internet to research the genre of horror and how to write in that genre. I will look at what people like and dislike in short stores to help me appeal to my target audience.
The purpose of my short stories is to entertain people. I want people to be captivated by my stores. Also I would like my stories to inspire other people to write, not necessarily to write stories, just to write creatively and not loose that imagination. I feel using your creativity is an really good way to keep it and expand it. Because when we are young we are full of imagination and creativity, when we get older we loose that a bit and I think it is important to keep that alive. So by inspiring people to write more.
I have a strong passion for writing and believe that there is a lot of power behind words. Writing is one of my hobbies and I enjoy it a lot. I like the fact that with writing there are no limits it is what ever you want to create. Also writing can be may different things to different people. For some people writing is a very personal thing and they are the only people that see what they create. Other people like to share their creations and like to share and take inspiration from others. I really like that about writing and it's one of the things I enjoy most about it. Specifically short stories are one of my favourite subsection of writing. Short stories give the author a challenge to captivate the audience in a short space of time. Also I think that short stories are really good because you can have a collection of them in the same space as having a novel.
I have refined my topic to writing in the horror genre. I have done this because I think it would be easier to have a collection of short stories in the same genre. From a selling point of view they would be more likely to sell if they were all under the same genre.
Making these short stories links to my career path. This is because I would like to be a published author one day. So making these short stories allows me to show my creativity and show that I could be an author. Also having lots of different stories allows me to use different techniques and styles.
I study english and have previously studied creative writing. So this allows me to create a knowledge of story writing and create my own style of writing.
Making these stories will help me with my creativity.
